Human Rights

Human rights, is all about education.

During my recent trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, we visited the Choeung Ek Genocidal and Tuol Sleng Genocide Musuem. The former was the notorious mass grave and the killing field for the Khmer Rouge regime. Tuol Sleng Genocide Musuem, is a former high school which was used as the notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21 prison camp) by the Khmer Rouge regime during 1975 to 1979.

Looking at what happened there, it sadden me to see history repeat itself time after time. What the Khmer Rouge regime has done to the Cambodian has no difference from what the Japanese done to the war victims during World War 2, neither does it different from what the Maoist government done to its people during the Cultural Revolution. Even in recent times, we read that the Syria government is using chemical weapons against its civilians!

All these tragedies happen, simply because of one reason, human greed for power. In most cases, simply because of 1 greed man. And, these cannot happen without the help of the enforcement officers, military, policemen and government officers. These people may be doing it so because of fear, because of blind obedience, money, power, etc. Whatever it may be, human rights has been ignored and forgotten, it is exactly what's happening in the picture above.

Best way to minimize the recurrence of these tragedies?

EDUCATION.

It is everyone's duty to learn, to share and to live the common values of human rights in our daily lives. Best depicts in the picture below:

Remember, everybody are born the SAME.

To big the topic? Too far? Not relevant to you? I am sure THIS is happening in your community. So, what are you going to do about it? Don't forget, silence legitimates violence.

So, stand up for human rights. It's never too late.
Live and share the common values of human rights.

This blog post in my pledge of support for the Blog Action Day 2013, to make stand on Human Rights
